Basic Free Motion Longarm Quilting  with Betsy Arcari

Saturday Feb,17, 2018
Class Fee:  $40.00

For the beginning free motion quilter (that doesn’t mean you just got your
machine ) – come learn all the basic moves and line segments to
develop your free motion skills.  If you are a doodler you know that you can
draw certain shapes and lines without really thinking and they come out
looking pretty much the same.  This is due to “muscle memory”.

Muscle memory is responsible for such expertise as playing the piano and
other musical instruments.  Muscle memory allows us to write without
thinking about each letter.  In all these examples, practice is what develops
the muscle memory and promotes expertise.  Practice is what will make you
proficient in free motion quilting.  You can begin to train your muscles for
quilting by using pencil and paper.  You can “doodle” quilting designs on
paper and this will transfer to you free motion quilting.

There are a few basic lines that allow you to create most quilting motifs.
We will review and practice these.
